Mr. Smith for New York Fashion Week AW19

Following Men’s Fashion Week, Mr. Smith returned to the runways for the women’s autumn-winter 2019 collections. Starting in New York, Mr. Smith partnered with Noon by Noor and Area to help deliver a series of sophisticated and striking looks. Noon by Noor

Kicking off our fashion month collaborations was a presentation by Noon by Noor. Designers Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa reinterpreted their modern aesthetic in the Bahrain desert, with clean silhouettes in warm tones.

Hair lead Paolo Soffiatti referenced the desert with dry natural textures reminiscent of the natural forms of sand dunes. Paolo achieved a perfect base for the look by layering Mr. Smith Texture Spray and Hairspray, finalising the look with loose waves and movement using a curling iron.

Area

This show caught everyone’s attention with a lively interpretation of 60s couture and 70s glamour that was described by Vogue as “scene stealing“. Sophistication and sparkle were present in equal parts in this show, being hailed as one of the highlights of NYFW by Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, New York Times, Allure, and many more.

The hair was just as flamboyant, with lead stylist Jawara Wauchope encrusting models’ hair with crystals, creating glittering chignons and bodega crystal braids. Jawara prepped the roots and ends of the hair with Mr. Smith Mousse, layered with Texture Spray from middle to end to create the perfect base. Mr. Smith Hairspray was used to secure the hair before crystal skeletons were sewn over models’ hair. Final details were secured with Mr. Smith Shaper, ensuring hair kept its form.

New York Fashion Week was only the beginning. Next, we’ll be working with many more brands across London and Paris to create unforgettable looks using the Mr. Smith collection. Follow us on Instagram to keep up to date and click here to see all our past shows.
