Mr. Smith at New York Fashion Week
As summer fades to autumn in the northern hemisphere, we’re catching our breath to deliver a quick dispatch from abroad after yet another busy round of shows at New York Fashion Week (6–14 September).
Led by Mr. Smith Creative Director Freda Rossidis, our Creative Team worked across a number of key shows and presentations – providing product and creating looks for some of the most exciting names in New York fashion.
Our first collaboration with Assembly New York saw Hair Lead Michael Silva create loads of textured volume to complement the label’s ‘nomadic modernist’-inspired ‘Zeitgeber’ SS19 collection.
At Noon by Noor, we once again partnered with Hair Lead Paolo Soffiati. For the Bahrain-based label’s showing of its wonderfully feminine, Middle Eastern-inspired ‘Desert Sands’ collection Paolo delivered a series of polished yet wearable styles with plenty of natural movement.
Over at Area (the envelope-pushing NY label of Piotrek Panszczyk and Beckett Fogg), rhinestones, miniskirts, metallic finishes and bright colours abounded. The creative response by Hair Lead Shingo Shibata involves adding wefts to make long side ponies looped at the top.
Elsewhere, Mr. Smith Creative Director Freda Rossidis worked on the presentation for Hunting Season, while Neil Grupp teamed with A Company for theirs. Hair Lead Nero delivered looks for the Gauntlett Cheng show while Brendan O’Sullivan provided styling for the Oxford Fashion Studio show.
And that’s just the beginning – after New York, we followed with a strong showing at London Fashion Week, and now look to Milan and Paris.
To share the ride, we’re sharing snapshots of some of our favourite looks from the Spring/Summer19 runway shows at New York Fashion Week on our Instagram and website.
Style. Substance. Simplicity.
