Mr. Smith for Paris Fashion Week

As our month-long fashion marathon winds up for another season we’re recalling the fourth and final leg of the spring/summer 2019 shows – Paris Fashion Week.

Running from 25 September until 3 October, Paris Fashion Week marked the end of S/S19 shows for the year. This time around, Mr. Smith helped to deliver looks for several key runway shows at PFW.

AALTO

Hair Lead Paolo Soffiatti collaborated with Paris-based fashion house AALTO again this year to present its SS19 collection, ‘999’. Here, designer Tuomas Merikoski focused on powerful, feminine pieces with flowing silhouettes to present an effortlessly cool new take on power dressing. Jackets and pants appeared in bold royal blue and orange tones alongside contrasting checked prints and the odd transparent surprise. Paolo’s creative response saw models sporting deep side parts with pin curl fringes created using Mr. Smith’s The Foundation, Crème and Hairspray.

DROMe

For Italian label DROMe, Hair Lead Christian Eberhard used Mr. Smith product to create a series of worn-in, textured looks with pulled back fringes. Entitled ‘The Transient,’ Rosati’s RTW collection captured an 80s-meets-futuristic vision. Rosati made this vision come to life with arched sleeves, tech leather and a whole lot of ruching – in fabrics ranging from metallic to pastel and prints. This was our second time collaborating with the Florence-based brand and hair lead Christian Eberhard.

A.W.A.K.E.

Meanwhile, London-based label A.W.A.K.E. worked with Hair Lead Louis Ghewy for its SS19 collection. Held at Paris’ Bastille Design Centre, the show featured a mix of eminently wearable feminine and masculine pieces, with designer Natalia Alaverdian (making her PFW debut) giving classic tailoring a new twist by way of pleated skirts and oversized blazers. While the Mr. Smith team has worked with Louis Ghewy in the past (on shows such as Atlein, John Lawrence Sullivan and Ludovic De Saint Sernin), this was our first collaboration with A.W.A.K.E. Here, Louis elevated each model’s natural hair with a mix of looks – from natural waves and braids over the face to full fringes. To create the braids Louis used Mr. Smith’s The Foundation and Mousse to create hold and control.

Dawei

At Dawei, designer Dawei Sun presented a stirring series of new looks with a clear influence coming from the high seas. Said to have been inspired by seventeenth-century pirate-scientist William Dampier, Dawei’s SS19 collection featured an abundance of ginghams, stripes, ruffles and textures in unexpected palettes. Hair Lead Michael Delmas complemented the collection with a range of looks that incorporated natural side parts and low ponytails with texture and separation through the fringe.
